Grinding Through Today Instead of Grand Plans for Tomorrow
Dear Conscience, Always again. I fumble a day, make grand plans for tomorrow, and then tomorrow an unexpected turn of events makes the grand plan impossible. So it would have been better to have gotten it done yesterday. Also, had the ‘turn of events’ not happened, I probably would have fumbled anyway, and gotten maybe Continue reading

Easy in Theory, Surprisingly Difficult in Practice
Dear Conscience, Today is a little better. I don’t know that I’ll necessarily manage to put those 6 hours of work in, but I do have a chance of getting closer than on any other day this week. I definitely did not foresee how difficult this would be. It’s been almost two months since I Continue reading

The Morning Does NOT Define the Day
Dear Conscience, this week has been by a mile better than any of the previous ones. I still haven’t achieved a single day of 6 billable hours, but my average this week has been 4.5 hours a day, which is much better than the average of approximately 2 daily billable hours for the whole past Continue reading

I Want to Feel Calm and Fulfilled
Dear Conscience, What’s all this self improvement effort for? What do I actually want to achieve? Clearly I want to feel better, but there are also people who have clean homes and thick retirement accounts, yet also feel unhappy. I read the other day that you need to find what you’re actually seeking for by Continue reading

Staying On Course in Changing Winds
Dear Conscience, I’m quite distressed. The situation is changing every day, with my daughter’s health, with work, with family. I have so many short term decisions to make, and so little time to prepare, and yet everything is changing so fast, that any decision is hard and short-lived, and it’s hard to work towards anything. Continue reading
About Me
I got my first nickname when I was 4 years old. It was “bakitza”, which means ‘an old lady’. I’ve always been an old lady on the inside. And as I progress towards being an old lady on the outside too, I want to take control of this journey. To reach the full fledged bakitza level with a peace of mind I always associated with that life stage. I thought it would come on it’s own with age. But now I realize that I have to take control over the mess that my life currently is in order to be a thoroughly satisfied bakitza one day.
